Diesel Particulates and NOx Emissions 20 - 24 May 2013

Weetwood Hall Conference Centre, Leeds, UK

The course will be relevant to engineers, researchers and teachers in diesel engines, combustion and pollution. It will be suitable both as an overview for those new to the diesel particulate and NOx area and to provide a wider awareness for those already working in this field. Although the emphasis is on the transport sector, the course is also relevant to the stationary diesel and marine diesel market. In addition, it is of relevance to environmentalists engaged on atmospheric PM10 measurement and research, where diesel particulates have been identified as a significant contributor. The course is also relevant to those involved in emissions regulation formulation and in transport planning for emissions reduction.

Engine Emissions Measurement 24 - 28 Jun 2013

Weetwood Hall Conference Centre, Leeds, UK

The course is aimed at engine emissions measurement personnel and their supervisors. It is particularly suitable for newly appointed staff in these areas, who need to learn quickly about emission measurement methods. It is also relevant to operators of diesel and gas turbine electric generation equipment who have to make emissions measurements, perhaps for the first time, under the Environmental Protection Act. The course covers both existing instrumentation and new developments in emissions measurement techniques and instruments, and will be of interest to those who wish to learn about the latest developments in emissions measurement technology. It will also be relevant to engine gas analysis system designers. It will be of particular relevance to those who have recently been made responsible for engine emissions measurement and who need information on the design and operation of these systems. It is also suitable for those involved in data processing of emissions measurements. Applications will be discussed in spark ignition, diesel and gas turbine engines.

EuropaCat XI 01 - 06 Sep 2013

Lyon, France

“20 years of European Catalysis… and beyond”

“In 1993, the 1st European Congress of Catalysis was held in Montpellier, France. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of this well established meeting, EuropaCat XI will take place in Lyon, France, in 2013. Today, catalysis is at the centre of major societal concerns about energy, environment and sustainable development. To meet these challenges, an interdisciplinary approach from molecules to materials and processes is required, joining efforts from heterogeneous, homogeneous and enzymatic catalysis. The ambition of EuropaCat XI is to cover the most advanced research topics in these fields and to pave the way for future research challenges. A general focus will concern the comparison between approaches involving fossil versus renewable resources and the replacement of noble metals by new catalytic materials.”

246th ACS National Meeting & Exposition 08 - 12 Sep 2013

Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

“Chemistry in Motion”

“Society demands more economical production of petroleum-based fuels, development of alternative fuels and lightweight building components and more efficient and aerodynamic designs of our transportation vehicles. That, in turn, requires advances in catalysis, the development of bio-based and renewable production of fuels and lightweight, structural materials, the development of new economically viable sources of power such as hydrogen fuel cells and photovoltaics, as well as health and environmental effects of those technologies. On the one hand, chemistry will facilitate the refinery of the future, and on the other hand it will provide the means to replace the those refineries with sustainable technologies and bio- or agro-based renewable methods to use chemistry for motion.”
