What is a good data source for the colour of various platinum group metal compounds; hydrates, oxides, etc.?
Answer
The colours of platinum group metal compounds are given on the material safety data sheet (MSDS) for each compound.
You can access MSDS through the Johnson Matthey Catalysts website, using the search facility at: http://www.jmcatalysts.com/pct/search.asp .
Alternatively you can search for compounds in the Alfa Aesar online catalogue, at: http://www.avocadochem.com/onlinecatalogue/suche.asp .
and click on the links for MSDS.
