IR spectra collected upon adsorption of ethanol at 300 K on CeO2, Pd/CeO2, Pt/CeO2 and Rh/CeO2.

Note the presence of acetate species (νa = 1572 cm−1) on CeO2 and their absence on all the other catalysts.

Note also the presence of acetaldehyde on Rh/CeO2 (ν (CO) at 1709 cm−1)
